Use the map to make your way to the listed locations in Edinburgh. Each story tag includes hints to help you find your way. Once you are near the location you will need to search to find the storybook tag and learn more.

A story book tag, is exactly that, a small sticker, which is both a NFC tag and QR code. They are hidden mostly in plain sight. If you still have trouble finding them, a show me the tag feature will show you exactly where it is. Happy hunting!

WHAT IS NFC?

Simply put, NFC is a form of mobile communication, Near-field Communication to be exact. It is often used in phone pinging, where two phones touch back-to-back and share information or in tap to pay services.

DO I HAVE NFC ON MY MOBILE DEVICE?

Not all mobile phones have NFC, but many new ones do. For a list of phones that do have NFC click here. Otherwise you can always check your phones manual.

HOW TO USE NFC

To use it, simply turn on your phones NFC abilities before departure, it is located in your settings. Then place your phone within 4 cm of the compass NFC tag. You will immediately directed to the tags URL. Your phone can read the token without ever leaving the web app interface.

MY PHONE DOESN'T HAVE NFC!

Not to worry, there are also hidden QR codes but you will have to have your own QR code reader to use them. Because a QR code reader is outside of the Edinlore app, you will need to close the web page in order to use it. Might we suggest Unitag's scanner for android or ios

HOW TO USE A QR CODE

To use your phones QR code scanner you will need to navigate to the home screen and then to the QR code scanner application. From there it will depend on your scanner, but most follow two basic steps:

1) Take a photo of the QR Code.

2) Get the information from the code. This usually requires clicking on the information link provided.
